Rumors of Lumia 2520 successor emerge as current model put to rest

The Nokia Lumia 2520 joined the Microsoft Surface and Surface 2 on the list of very good looking tablets running a very bad Windows RT operating system. As much hype as there was for Nokia to finally build a Windows-powered tablet, the company’s decision to stick to Windows RT made this tablet a DOA product. Windows 10 does paint a much brighter picture for mobile tablets running the operating system, and today we have good and bad rumors for fans of the Lumia 2520.

If we start with the bad news, one source is already claiming that the existing Nokia Lumia 2520 is being put to rest silently by Microsoft, following the same reality that the Surface 2 faced last month. Microsoft has vaguely confirmed that there will be some sort of Windows 10 update for these Windows RT tablets, but the timing for that is hard to predict.
On the positive note, other sources already claim that some benchmarks have just leaked the existence of a successor to the Lumia 2520. The report claims that the device sports a 10.1-inch QHD display, along with an Adreno 420 GPU, which could only mean that we might see a Snapdragon 805 processor powering the tablet. Windows is being listed as the operating system, so yes, we have to be talking about a Windows 10 launch product here.
We doubt to see any hardware at MWC 2015 coming from Microsoft given some recent claims, but we could be wrong.
